International Fair “Prishtina 2015”
May 29, 2015- About 120 companies from Kosovo, the region and Europe are participating in the General International Fair “Prishtina 2015”, which opened today.
The chairman of OEK, Safet Gërxaliu, has affirmed that the participation of companies from Europe proves that Kosovo is on the European path. Gerxhaliu has also emphasized that the seal of political victories is economic development.

“OEK, as a prerequisite, really wants to contribute to economic development as much as possible. I want to believe that the seal of political victories is economic development. When talking about economic development, the private sector is the key bearer of this battle. The local business community can, I know and will succeed, be the driver of these processes and with an institutional support and partnership, we will succeed in this direction”, said Gërxaliu.

He assessed that the wide diplomatic recognition of Kosovo and the inclusion of its economy in contemporary economic trends constitute two sides of the same coin: being an equal member of the international community.

“We at the Chamber of Commerce are aware that we still need a lot of work in reforming our economy and its rapid development to be equal to the region and to align with the main world economic trends. The fair that we are opening today proves that Kosovo can make important steps in this direction, because we are able to organize a large economic event according to international standards”.

Gerxhaliu said that the Chamber of Commerce aims at the internationalization of Kosovo’s economy in the same way that Kosovo’s diplomacy works for new international recognition
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry, Mimoza Kusari-Lila appealed to the governments, especially those of the region, that the goods from Kosovo should have the same treatment at fairs in Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and other countries. Minister of Economic Development , Besim Beqaj said that this is the best argument that Kosovo’s economy is increasing competition
The organizers and businesses highly appreciated the results of this fair, affirming that through fairs all the dividing walls between the business community are eliminated.
In general, it was a fair that sealed the economic future of Kosovo and through this fair the maturity of the local business community was proven. The readiness of the business from Kosovo for the integration processes has been proven and at the same time, for the first time, all the dividing walls between the business community have been eliminated, either at the bilateral level, or at the regional level, or even at the European level, by the very fact that today companies are contacting here from Serbia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and all over Europe. This is a very positive message towards foreign investors and towards the political opinion about the Kosovar reality.
