About the Event
Tirana will host the 7th Congress of the Balkan Geophysical Society (BGS), the largest and most comprehensive geophysical event in the Balkan region. The three-day program will include a large conference and technical exhibition showcasing the role of geophysics in geology, petroleum reservoirs, mining, seismology, geothermal energy, engineering, and the environment in the Balkan region.
In the six BGS Congresses held from 1996 to 2011, 1,062 papers were presented. In 2011, the Budapest, Hungary congress featured 142 papers by 397 authors from 15 Balkan countries. The seventh Congress in Tirana expects to present 150 research papers, host a technical exhibition, and conduct a field trip to the Albanides, part of the Folded Mediterranean Alpine Belt. Each Congress typically hosts around one thousand experts from approximately 25 countries.
Welcome Message
We are privileged and honored to host the 7th Congress of the Balkan Geophysical Society (BGS) in Tirana. This triennial event, focused on advancing geophysics, is dedicated to investing in future scientific leaders, fostering innovation, influencing policy with scientific insights, and promoting geophysics education. We aim to increase access to cutting-edge scientific solutions.
Many of the issues we address are global and require collaboration. We support active collaboration with young scientists, and at each meeting, we discuss current technologies as tools for sustainable development. Active participation and concrete cooperation between participants form the backbone of BGS, benefiting society. We especially welcome young and active geophysicists.
We look forward to meeting you at the 7th BGS Congress, Conference, and Technical Exhibition in Tirana from October 7 to 10, 2013.
On behalf of the BGS Steering Committee,
Prof. Dr. Salvatore Bushati, Chairman of Congress
